What is SHA3-384?
SHA3-384 is a high-security variant of the SHA-3 family. Like other SHA-3 standards, it uses the sponge construction and Keccak algorithm. It produces a 384-bit output, matching the security level of SHA-384 (SHA-2) but using a completely independent mathematical foundation.
Properties
- Advanced Hashing: Uses Keccak permutation, which was selected after a multi-year open competition.
- Fixed Length: Always produces a 384-bit (96 hex characters) output.
- Resistance: Built to be resistant to length-extension attacks that affect some other hash algorithms.
- Future-Proof: Part of the modern NIST cryptographic standard suite.
