What is Image Vectorization?

Vectorization is the process of converting pixel-based raster images (like JPG or PNG) into mathematical paths (SVG). Unlike pixels, vector paths can be scaled to any size without becoming "pixelated" or blurry. This is essential for high-quality printing, logo design, and responsive web graphics.

Tracing Tips

  • High Contrast: Images with clear edges and high contrast vectorize best.
  • Fewer Colors: Reducing colors can help create cleaner, more manageable SVG files.
  • Thresholds: Lower thresholds result in more detail but more complex (larger) SVG files.

Performance Note

Vectorizing an image is a complex calculation. For high-resolution photos, it might take a few seconds to complete. We process everything in your browser to ensure your privacy.

If the resulting SVG is too large or slow to render, try reducing the Number of Colors or increasing the Threshold values.
